SCOTT STRINGFELLOW

Scott, the Son of Night club owner Peter Stringfellow began racing cars not long after leaving school, when he attended the Brands Hatch Racing School. During his first year of racing he raced for two different racing teams in Formula Ford 1600 races and the following year continuing an attack on two particular FF1600 championships (Champion of Oulton Park and Star of Mallory), of which Scott won both in the same year and collected 12 wins from 14 pole positions.

He then moved on to the highly competitive world of British Formula 3, he raced in the class B section, in his time in this category he raced against some future stars of Formula 1, Damon Hill, Eddie Irvine, Mark Blundell, Johnny Herbert, Mika Hakkinen, David Brabham and Mika Salo. After 3 years in F3 his Championship results were 5th in 87, 4th in 88 and 2nd in 89. He then took this time to try out other formulas and types of car, from his usual single seater cars he moved to saloon and sports cars. In 1991 he raced in the Spa-Francorchamps 24 hours, in a ford Sierra RS500, and finished 5th.

During his ‘out of race’ time Scott became an independent motor racing instructor and worked at almost all the British circuits in this period.

Scott was to reunite with Formula 3 in 1999, but this time it was to be in the ARP Formula 3 series in a car that he had raced in his ‘old’ F3 days, and won the first race of the year and went on the to have more good results, he finished 6th in the championship with only half the season’s races competed.

2000 saw him continue in the ARP Formula, and with Mark Bailey joining the team, his results took a major up turn and a top six and podium finishes were recorded in the last two races of the season.

The future for Scott is in open top Sports Car endurance racing, and he is looking forward to the FIA Sports Racing Championship in 2001, and he will be expecting some podium results in his first year with Mark Bailey Racing.
